Shark Feeding Experience

A very memorable moment

If you are looking for something different and exciting to try, shark feeding is for you. Mactan Island Aquarium is the first aquarium is Asia to offer guests the option of feeding live sharks, under expert supervision.

Shark feeding Information

When you book a shark feeding session, you will be taken to the off-limits shark feeding platform above the shark tank. Our marine biologist will prepare the sharks feed rations, and give you instructions and a demonstration on safely feeding the sharks, by attaching the food to a feeding pole, ensuring your hands stay well away from the water. You will then individually feed the sharks, under the guidance of our expert. Your aim is to share the food between the sharks equally.

About our Sharks

Our shark tank is home to Blacktip Reef Sharks (Carcharinus melanopterus). These sharks are found in the shallow seas around Cebu. Growing up to around 6 feet long, their natural diet is mostly fish and squid, but they have even been known to eat sea snakes. Due to their habit of entering shallow water, they often come into contact with humans. They have been known to bite people walking in shallow seas. So far, no fatal attacks have been recorded.

Shark Feeding Booking Guide

Reservation is required for shark feeding. Their normal daily feed will be reserved for your feeding session. If you just show up without a booking and wish to feed the sharks, it will only be possible if they have not already eaten. Call ahead on (032) 2366248 or 0919 4851276 to be certain.

The cost of a shark feeding session is currently P750. One feed session may be shared between up to 3 persons, each taking a turn in feeding the sharks, this means it is only P250 per head. Minimum age is 8 years old, and any kids joining the shark feed may only do so in the company of the responsible adult. Admission to the aquarium is billed separately.
