Educational Trips

Hands on learning experiences

The Mactan Island Aquarium has proved to be a big hit with school teachers and students.  When you book a school field trip, your students will enjoy a full guided tour of every exhibit at the aquarium from a trained qualified aquarium guide as well as a question and answer quiz and the chance to view our own educational movie about coral reefs in Cebu. School bookings also receive discounted admission fees and admission for a free teacher for every 20 students.

Make a reservation for your school or class:

Call us on 032 2366248 from 9:00 am to 6pm and ask to make a group reservation.  Reservations fill quickly and we recommend that you make yours as early as possible.  If your plans change, please notify us as early as possible so we can make that time available to other groups. All groups visiting the Aquarium must make reservations to avoid arriving at the same time as another group.  If you come without reservations, we may not be able to accommodate you, though we will certainly do our best.

A maximum of 100 students per 2 hour period (including supervisory adults) is what our facility can accommodate safely, comfortably, and effectively. If your group exceeds this number by more than five, you need to reserve more than a standard 2 hour visit slot and divide your group accordingly. With children's groups, we require one adult supervisor for every twenty children. When you call, we will assist you in determining your appropriate visit requirements.

Benefits for school groups:

Teachers and Principals occular inspections can be made by appointment. We will email or fax your school a full information sheet on visiting. It details our discount rates for schools.

During your scool tour, your students will have the chance to take part in a question and answer quiz to test their fishy knowledge at the end of the tour. We also have puzzles and free coloring in sheets and materials  for younger kids.

Educating the next generation on the importance of looking after the world around them is a big part of the aquarium's message. The tour includes discussing the problems of cyanide fishing and dynamite fishing. Students are advised that the coral reefs will be more beneficial us if they are preserved in good condition to promote tourism and healthy fish stocks for consumption.

One student even told us during his visit that his father uses poison to catch fish! Education is the key to changing these destructive activities.
